A major project on food and drink industry refrigeration systems was completed in Spring 2007. The project was managed by the Food and Drink Federation with support from the IOR (Institute of Refrigeration) and other food and drink Trade Associations including BLRA (brewing), CSDF (cold stores) and Dairy UK. The Carbon Trust provided much of the funding for this major project.
The project involved detailed refrigeration system audits at 30 "host sites" and the preparation of 5 very useful documents. These include guidance on:
- Appointing refrigeration contractors
- Purchasing new refrigeration plant
- Making efficiency improvements to existing plants
- Dealing with the phase out of R22 and the new F-Gas Regulation
- Key energy saving ideas (based on the 30 site audits)
